Job Title: Data & AI Lead

Department: Data Lab

Location: Launchpad Innovation Campus

About the Role: 

We are currently seeking an experienced Data & AI Lead to join our team at Impact Africa Network. You will play a crucial role in driving the management of data and the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across our portfolios and projects while also focusing on identifying data-driven market opportunities, integrating AI into existing products, and ensuring the successful adoption and implementation of AI-driven initiatives.

Responsibilities: 

As a Data & AI Lead at Impact Africa Network, your responsibilities will include:

1. Data Management Strategy and Planning:
   • Design, develop and execute a comprehensive data management and AI adoption strategy aligned with our vision and objectives.
   • Identify market opportunities for data-driven innovations and guide the strategic direction of all initiatives.
   • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define program goals, scope, and success metrics.
2. Data & AI Project Management:
   • Led cross-functional teams working on AI integration projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely project delivery.
   • Define project requirements, scope, and objectives in collaboration with product managers, developers, and stakeholders.
   • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful project execution.
   • Identify and mitigate risks, address bottlenecks, and resolve conflicts to ensure seamless project implementation.
3. Data Solutions Development:
   • Work closely with the engineering, data lab and the various startup team leads to integrate AI capabilities into existing products and services.
   • Identify and evaluate AI technologies, frameworks, and tools to support solution development.
   • Drive the conceptualization, design, and development of AI and data solutions to address market opportunities.
   • Ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies throughout the AI solution development process.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
   • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and promote AI adoption.
   • Communicate the value proposition of AI initiatives to diverse stakeholders, including executives, startup teams, and customers.
   • Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and progress to stakeholders, ensuring effective communication across the organization.
5. Continuous Improvement:
   • Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in AI technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
   • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance AI program efficiency and effectiveness.
   • Evaluate the performance of AI initiatives and teams, identifying opportunities for optimization and resource utilization
6. Data Visualization and Storytelling:
   • Design and develop interactive data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively
   • Leverage data storytelling techniques to present complex data and findings in a compelling and understandable manner
   • Data Cleaning and Preprocessing
   • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their reporting and visualization needs
7. Data Visualization and Storytelling:
   • Design and develop interactive data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively
   • Leverage data storytelling techniques to present complex data and findings in a compelling and understandable manner
   • Data Cleaning and Preprocessing
   • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their reporting and visualization needs

Key Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in data engineering, AI, and machine learning
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and familiarity with data engineering tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
• Experience with machine learning frameworks 
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and their data and AI services
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Passion for learning, innovation, and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
• Experienced customizing and intergrating working tools and CRM's to serve business needs. 
• Relevant certifications in AI, project management, or related fields is a plus.
